Dagashi snacks are cheap, tiny snacks that have been an all-time favourite for every kid growing up in Japan.
As a child, I used to love asking my parents to take me to the local dagashi store - it's not only fun to choose from over hundreds (and seemingly thousands, as a kid) of different snack selections, but you could also get a handful of snacks with only a ¥100 in hand (that's around $1).
I mean, just look at how tiny and cute these snacks are!

Now, amidst the busy streets of Ikebukuro is a bar that has made everyone's childhood dream come true - a place where you can eat as many of these snacks as you want AND chase them down with alcohol. It's essentially the grown-up version of the snack store visits every kid in Japan would have experienced growing up.
The bar on the inside looks like a traditional dagashi snack house, with wooden interiors, lanterns, and retro posters. It's totally got that 1950s Japanese vibes, and I loved every part of it.

So here is how it works: At this bar, you get 2 hours for all-you-can-eat snacks upon paying a service charge of ¥500 and a drink of your choice. Which means, you can technically eat all the snacks they want for around ¥1000 ($10) AND get two whole hours to do so - I would say that's a pretty sweet (no pun intended) deal!
Their food menu is pretty extensive too, including traditional food like omurice and yakisoba, for those who would want some proper meal. When I went with my friend, we just ordered a bunch of light appetizers like edamame and kimchi and stuffed ourselves with snacks for the rest of the time! (FYI: Light appetizers were around ¥300 each)

There are many varieties of snacks, including those that are savoury, sweet, crispy and chewy. There are chocolates, gummies, rice crackers, corn puffs, ramen noodles, and many more.

Just look at how tiny these snacks are! You can easily stuff 100+ snacks in 2 hours if you are determined ;)
Whether you are an avid dagashi-lover or just a curious tourist, this unique concept bar will NOT disappoint. I mean, where else could you stuff yourself with snacks for two whole hours and call it your dinner for the day?
