Let's be Romantic: How to Express LOVE in Japanese!

Thinking of confessing your love to someone? Want to impress your Japanese boyfriend or girlfriend by letting them know how much you love them… in Japanese?! Well, here is a perfect blog post for you! (: There aren’t many romantic expressions in Japanese compared to other languages, so this should be pretty straightforward!
Listed below are some of the most common expressions:
好(す)きです Soo-ki-deh-soo =I like you! (this phrase is most commonly used when you confess your feelings to your crush)
付(つ)き合(あ)ってくれますか? Tsu-ki-atte-koo-reh-ma-soo-ka? =Will you go out with me?
大好(だいす)きです Dai-soo-ki-deh-soo =I like you very much! (closest equivalent to I love you)
愛(あい)してる or 愛(あい)してます Ai-shi-teh-roo/ Ai-shi-teh-ma-soo =I love you (this is not commonly used, unless you are seriously in love and about to propose)
Some other words to keep in mind…
彼氏(かれし) Ka-reh-shi =boyfriend
彼女(かのじょ) Ka-no-jyo =girlfriend
愛(あい) Ai =love
恋(こい) Koh-ii =love/crush
